Strategy & Operations at Uber. 8+ years across investing, corporate strategy, and operations.

Zack Alexander

I turn ambiguous, cross-functional problems into operating systems that scale: launching new earning products, closing risk gaps that fall between teams, and building AI tools that take manual work out of the loop. At Uber since 2023; finance and investing before that.

Selected work

What I built and what it changed

Each card is one problem, what I did, and what changed. Grouped by the three things I am asked to do: grow, de-risk, automate.

Growth

01

Add-on earning-product growth engine

Problem
Every new earning product was configured from scratch, market by market.
What I did
Defined a three-tier product taxonomy, built a reusable add-on launch model, and launched products for military bases, teens, commercial fleets, taxi, airports, and car seats.
Outcome
137% of the 2025 new-launch bookings target, 102% of the configuration target, and +45% quarter-over-quarter growth in add-on drivers in Q4 2025.
02

Standardizing specialty-vehicle launches

Problem
Each specialty-vehicle launch took 30–45 days of bespoke setup.
What I did
Consolidated every market onto two standardized national product configurations.
Outcome
Setup now under a week: 77–84% faster.

Risk

03

Commercial insurance verification rollout

Problem
A coverage gap that no single team owned was creating recurring insurance cost exposure.
What I did
Led a market-by-market rollout, aligning city operations and driver-access teams on timing and enforcement.
Outcome
18+ markets in 220 days, roughly one every 12 days; 75% of in-scope supply hours now carry a verified policy.
04

Commercial terms audit

Problem
A single inbound question suggested some commercial drivers were on the wrong contract terms.
What I did
Expanded it into a review of every commercial product's terms and aligned five legal and insurance teams on the fix.
Outcome
Found and remediated the 0.68% of audited drivers at contract risk; migrated the misconfigured product.
05

Airport placard program

Problem
Drivers were accruing recurring citations at a major airport.
What I did
Co-led a placard program with phased enforcement so supply held while coverage rose.
Outcome
Live April 2025; year-over-year fine reduction confirmed.

Automation

06

Automated safety testing

Problem
Product bugs with regulatory implications were reaching production.
What I did
Scaled an automated testing suite to cover new state and regulator rule sets.
Outcome
10+ bugs with regulatory implications caught in 2025; false positives down 60% quarter over quarter; one issue flagged a month before it became a production incident.
07

Document automation for driver onboarding

Problem
Manual document review slowed driver onboarding.
What I did
Owned the top-priority automation workstream: re-engaged legal partners to retire seven manual-review exemptions and tuned instant-feedback models.
Outcome
US instant-feedback rate 71.7% against a 70% target; driver's-license instant feedback up 50% and personal-insurance up 55% (relative).
08

Self-serve launch layer for driver incentives

Problem
Expanding early-lifecycle driver incentives to a new region needed manual handoffs between several teams and took weeks.
What I did
Built a self-serve layer on an MCP server so regional teams could configure and launch incentives themselves; validated outputs manually and collected feedback in-app.
Outcome
Two stakeholders removed from the loop; launch time cut from weeks to days; 260 deliverables shipped in ~12 weeks across Rides, Eats, and Moto.
09

AI tooling for the operations team

Problem
Recurring analyses and dashboards ate team hours.
What I did
Shipped 138 AI tools and analyses since March 2026, including 62 dashboards, agents, and reusable skills; demoed to senior leadership and at All Hands.
Outcome
#1 of 14 contributors on the Hours of Efficiency Gained tracker at 562 hours/yr saved (~0.27 FTE).
